In the Genesis book, God is depicted as someone who felt sorry because he had created evil creatures like humans. He preferred Noah and his family and chose to destroy most other living things, not only evil humans who offended him, but also all animals and all plants. God plans to sink the whole world in a flood. To save himself and other animal species, Noah was directed to build a large ship that would save them from flooding. Noah's Ark is a boat built by Noah and his family at the command of God. According to the story, Noah built a ship that could accommodate his extended family and many animals.
In Genesis 6: 19-21, it is written:
"You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.”
In Genesis 7: 2-3, it is written:
Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male, and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male, and its mate, and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.
For 40 days and 40 nights, it rained and the sea rose until the Earth was completely covered. Both the Bible and the Koran say that the Ark descended on Mount Ararat at low tide, and that is where the focus of most of Noah's ark hunters is today.
Several sightings of the ark on Mt. Ararat occurred in the 20th century. During the thaw in the summer of 1916, a lieutenant of the Russian Imperial Air Force flew over Mt. Ararat reported seeing half the hull of a boat poking out of the lake's surface. In 1949 a US Air Force mission photographed an unusual feature which was 15,500 feet high in the northwestern plateau of Mount Ararat on the other side of Ahora Gorge. The picture appears showing the curve of a ship sticking out of a glacier.
This phenomenon was given the name 'Ararat Anomaly' and reappeared in the 1970s when a secret military satellite successfully focused on the area from space. A photograph taken in 1972 by Earth Technical Technical Research (ERTS) said, there was an unusual feature at an altitude of 14,000 feet at Mt. Ararat Reportedly the same size as the ship. In the 1980s, former NASA astronaut James Irwin participated in a mountain climbing expedition, but he found only remnants of abandoned skis. With the disintegration of the former Soviet Union, archeological expeditions on the mountain intensified during the 1990s, and the search for Noah's Ark continued.
Other investigators believe that this is just an old rock formation, an old fort, or even a plane that crashed. Of course, the only way researchers can gather definitive evidence is to be near a location on the ground. But rising tensions between Turkey and the Kurdish population in the region have hampered exploration efforts, and the recent instability in nearby Iraq has also added to regional pressure. Until a team of archeologists can examine photos directly, the mystery of Noah's Ark will never be solved.
On the other hand, a replica of Noah's Ark was built in Kentucky, USA. This project has spent US$ 100 million (around Rp1.3 trillion), built by people who gathered in the creationist stream called Answer in Genesis. The size and shape details have also been calculated according to the scriptures. The newly designed ark in Williamstown stretches 137 meters long, stands 23 meters high and 14 meters wide. They believe this ship can save them and all living creatures on Earth if the flood occurs again.
