During Alexander the Great's reign and exploration, he came to an area in the Caucasus, the mountains between Europe and Asia. There he found Gog and Magog who were terrorizing the area. Alexander finally built a wall and a gate in a narrow gap between two mountains to close it. There are several different versions of these wall materials including, thorny bushes, iron, brass, or acetone (magic metal).

There is also a different version of what Alexander left there. Like a bronze horn-shaped trumpet that would deceive the Gog and Magog into thinking that a large army was on the other side, or an eagle screaming if they tried to escape. But one day the gates will open and Gog and Magog will come out and destroy the world. According to Islamic tradition (in Saḥīḥ al-Bukhāri), Gog and Magog are human, and the city that mentioned in sura 21 is Jerusalem.

The Koran, in the first half of the 7th century AD, was the last major religious text that gave new information about Gog and Magog (or Ya'jūj and Ma'jūj in Arabic). Sura 21, Al-Anbiyā (Prophets): Allah told His Prophet (Muhammad) that there was a "ban on a [city] that We destroyed that they would return until the [dam] Gog and Magog were opened and they, from every height, go down. "

Abu Hurairah relates that the Prophet (S) said, "Every day, Gog and Magog try to dig their way out through the barrier. When they start seeing sunlight through it, the guards say, 'Go back, you can continue to dig tomorrow,' and when they come back, the barrier is stronger than before. It will continue until the time comes and God wants to send it out. They then dig again until they start to see the sunlight, so the guards say, 'Come back, you can continue digging tomorrow, insha'Allah.'

In this case, he will make an exception by saying insha'Allah, thus connecting this problem with the will of Allah. They returned the next day, and found the hole they had left. They continue to dig and go out against the people, they drink all the water and find a hole when they leave it, and people will strengthen themselves in their fortresses. Gog and Magog will shoot their arrows into the sky, and they will fall back to earth with something like blood.

Gog and Magog will say, 'We have defeated the people of the earth, and defeated the people of heaven.' Then Allah will send a kind of worm into their stomachs, and they will be killed by him ... 'by Him who is in the hands of Muhammad, the animals on earth will become fat.' "[Tirmidhi, Abwaab al-Tafsir: Surat al-Kahf (Hadith 5160), 8/597-99; Ibn Maajah, Kitaab al-Fitan, (Hadith 4080), 2/1364. Ahmad, Musnad, 2/510, 511 .]

While in the Bible there is a lot of confusion about the names Gog and Magog. Sometimes it's a person's name, and sometimes it's a nation's name. Sometimes Gog or Magog is described as a brother, and sometimes Gog is the king of Magog.

Revelation tells about the end of the world when Gog and Magog were released. Saint Augustine described it in his book City of God as: "And after thousands of years are finished, Satan will be released from prison, and will go to seduce the nations that are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, and will draw them to war, whose numbers are the same as sea sand. "This is his purpose in seducing them, to draw them into this battle.

Even before this, he used to use various kinds of seduction when he could continue. And the words "he will come out" mean, he will burst from hidden madness into open persecution. For this persecution, which takes place while the final judgment is near, will be the last that must be experienced by the holy Church in all the world, the whole city of Christ is attacked by all the cities of the devil because each is on earth. For countries whose names Gog and Magog cannot be understood from some savage countries in some parts of the world, whether Getae and Massagetae, as concluded from the initial letter, or several other foreign countries that are not under Roman rule.

The locations of Gog and Magog have moved throughout history. Some might have confused it with the early reports of the Great Wall of China. Usually, it represents an area with infidels barbarians in it who are a threat to good religious people on the other side.
